Western Civ 5/1 - roman architecture

Trevi FountainThe Trevi Fountain, Rome, Italy.
This is called Trevi Fountain. It has many statues on the travertine stone up top and the water flows down into a big pool. In 1730 Pope Clemens XII held a fountain designing contest. Some theories say that the original winner, Alessandro Galilei had the commision given away to Salvi due to public objections because Galilei was Florentine and Salvi was a native Roman. Salvi died before the project was complete. I chose this one because I have always thought the statues are really cool and there's lots of them.
