Western Civ 5/5 - the twelve tables

In ancient Rome they created a set of laws through the idea that every citizen had the right to protection under the law. They were originally carved on wood but later carved in bronze. They added laws as history went down. They had 3 groups for each type of people in Rome. Each group, depending on who was involved with the problem, would be given time to talk about the law and then vote on it. The new law would consist of the preamble, main text, and sanctio (consequence for breaking the law). Jurists came along later and would be able to translate the complexity of the laws. They treated the law as a science. They can be compared to modern day lawyers.
